Blueberries:

The Superfood You and Your Kids Will Love

organic blueberries, the healthy and easy snack option

Dear Beautiful Mama!

I have something to share with you today. Blueberries are one of my favourite fruits and since I have been living in Spain I can enjoy them from late spring time.

Even though they are available in supermarkets almost all year round I make sure to buy them only when they are in season.

I recently learned some amazing things about blueberries that I think you should know too. Trust me, you will love them even more after reading this.

First of all, blueberries are not just tasty, they are also super healthy.

They have one of the highest antioxidant levels

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The antioxidants in blueberries are called anthocyanins,
and they are the ones that give the berries their beautiful blue, purple, and red colors. Anthocyanins have many benefits for your health, such as reducing inflammation, fighting viruses, and preventing cancer. They can also help lower your blood pressure, protect your heart, improve your memory, and prevent diabetes. How awesome is that?

Blueberries are also rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, and fiber, which are all important for your overall health. Vitamin C helps boost your immune system and skin health, vitamin K helps with blood clotting and bone health, manganese helps with metabolism and nerve function, and fiber helps with digestion and blood sugar control.

Blueberries are low in calories but high in flavor, so they are perfect for snacking or adding to your meals. You can eat them fresh, frozen, dried, or cooked. You can put them in your yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, salads, muffins, pies, and more. They are also easy to store and freeze, so you can enjoy them all year round.

But wait, there’s more.
Not only are blueberries good for you, they are also good for the planet, if you choose organic ones. You see, conventional blueberries are often sprayed with pesticides, which are chemicals that are used to kill pests and weeds. Pesticides can be bad for your health and the environment, as they can mess up your hormones, cause allergic reactions, and pollute the soil and water.

According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), blueberries are one of the fruits and vegetables that have the most pesticide residues, even after being washed. They are part of the “Dirty Dozen” list, which is a ranking of the produce with the most and least pesticides based on government testing data. You don’t want to eat that, do you?

Organic blueberries, on the other hand, are grown without using synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Organic farming practices are more sustainable and eco-friendly, as they preserve the soil quality, biodiversity, and water resources. Organic blueberries may also have more antioxidants and nutrients than conventional ones, as they are exposed to more natural stressors that stimulate their production.

So, by choosing organic blueberries

over conventional ones, you are not only taking care of yourself, but also of the environment.

You are supporting the farmers who grow them with respect for the natural resources and ecosystems. You are also enjoying the full benefits of this superfood, without any harmful chemicals.

I got mine through the platform called Crowdfarming, I encourage you to check them out. You can get to know your farmers and find seasonal, organic, nutritious and delicious foods there. One kilo of blueberries arrived from South of Spain in a paper box, instead of the plastic one with 100-200 grams, that are sold in supermarkets here.

Now, let me tell you why blueberries are a great choice for kids too.
They are a healthy snack option that needs zero preparation. You can just wash them and serve them to your little ones, or pack them in their lunch boxes. My kids love the sweet and juicy taste, and you will love the fact that they are getting a lot of vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber. Blueberries can also help boost their immune system, brain function, and eye health. Plus, they are fun to eat, and they can make any dish look more colorful and appealing. What’s not to love?

So, what are you waiting for?
Go get some organic blueberries today, and enjoy them with your family and friends. You will be amazed by how delicious and nutritious they are. And don’t forget to share this blog post with them, so they can learn more about blueberries too. I hope you found this helpful and interesting. Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Until next time, stay healthy and happy!
With much love,
